Are you sure, you want to add Whiteout
to your wish list?
Storyline:
U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko is three days from the end of her tour at an international research station in Antarctica after which she'll resign. An incident from her past haunts her. The continent's first winter storm is coming when a body, wearing no gear, is discovered in the tundra. She investigates, soon finds more bodies, and must find a motive and a murderer before the storm and her departure. A U.N. agent, Robert Pryce, appears, seemingly out of nowhere, to help. An aging physician about to retire, a nervous mission chief, a downed Soviet plane, and the weather's deadly elements add to the story. Can Carrie trust Pryce and does she still have what it takes?

I felt the story line very weak. Too many holes in the script. Black or dark images on white snow does not make for interesting visuals. Action sequences were filmed in the hurky jerky close-up style that gives you a headache trying to figure out what you are seeing.
Rent "The Thing" directed by Carpenter and take notes on how to film in the snow and ice....

It was not bad... It did keep you on your toes and well I think this movie could have been a great climax for an Alien movie - have them find some frozen UFO or something - but hey, it did have a twist and I think it probably is better than the other movies that are currently out...

Do you need a nap? Go to Whiteout. Most boring movie I have seen in years. Six of us went together, ages from 25 to 79. All rated it a big bore. The most exciting part is in the trailer...she falls through the snow. Whoopee. Lots of blowing snow and a big fight scene in the blowing snow but that is the most tense it gets unless you like to watch amputations. Really not a fun flick. My husband enjoyed it as a comparison to his time stationed at the Ross Ice Station while in the Navy. He did 3 tours of duty there. He said they did a fairly credible job of portraying Antarctica. However, planes ALWAYS fly with skies (not wheels) as shown n the movie. The research station should have had a cover over it. And in general people "on the ice" do not head out away from the station when a major storm is heading toward them. It is a major No-No.

It was okay. The storyline wasn't real impressive and neither was the acting. The best part of the movie was the scenery. If you were my friend I wouldn't suggest you see it at the theaters.

Do not waste your time on this movie. The script is in need of copious amounts of whiteout. The dialogue is so incredibly cheesy you wonder if the writer and director we sniffing whiteout while filming this movie.
The only thing going is the 'wow factor' that is Kate Beckinsale. The opening 2 minute shower scene will have most men salivating. Once this is gone all that is left is a pitiful plot, bad acting and silly dialogue. Sniffing whiteout is bad for your health. Watching Whiteout is bad for your brain since you will lose many from this brain rot experience of a movie.
