the trailer caught our eye and got us to the theater. we were collectively on the edge of our seats bc the ending was profound and a shock/surprise. our family talked about this movie for almost the entire car ride home and continued during breakfast. it was very good and a must see. i think i have a different perspective on life bc of this film. oh, and the cast performances were excellent and had me crying and laughing and the writing was wonderful. what a good movie. i wish more films had messages like this out there in the world.

We were encouraged to go to Doonby sincie it was "Christian friendly" with a moral message. The movie is centered around a drifter/bartende, so much of the film depicts drinking, smoking and bar life. I got the message and there was no bad language, nudity or in your face violence. However, the actors were not believeable and it played like a "made for TV" movie. I like a movie that makes you feel good at the end. This one doesn't. While it wasn't a bad movie, it wasn't what I expected or wanted, and definately not one for the kids.

I have to say, I really enjoyed this film. The story pulled me in and I didn't see the end coming! I don't like predictable. I thought everyone did a great job. Love seeing Jenn Gotzon and John Scneider. It is the kind of film that leaves you thinking as the credits rolled. People were a bit stunned in the theater. Powerful.

BREAKING NEWS: Endeavor Cinema Group Doonby Review When a film is endorsed by the Vatican, it has to be good right. Well this movie was not only good, it was the" knock you off your chair and just sit there minute catching your breath" kind of good. John Schneider was right on target with his portrayal of a drifter with no real history to speak of. Nobody knows who Sam Doonby really i,s but a rich, beautiful small town girl played by Jenn Gotzon is destined to find out. Jenn is a new name to theatrical feature films (Frost Nixon, The Hulk) but that moniker won't stick. Jenn's amazing performance drags you through the field, from a sexy sassy wild child that every man could love, to a desperate broken soul that even the toughest guy in town would cry for. The message in this film is not quite clear until you get in your car on the way home and then it hits you like a ton of bricks. In Hollywood nowadays, the ending is usually predictable. Not in this film. It's a must see.

It was FANTASTIC. Took my 17 grandaughter, 15 & 10 grandson's and the 17 & 15 year old loved it too. I think the 10 year old was bored. During the movie I was wondering what the christian message was and then you get it!
