I've read the book and was really hoping that the movie would match up pretty well and it did!! of course they added a few things but thats just to make the movie interesting. and that it did! I loved the added scenes and for things that were in the book it was spot on! I loved it and if you love the book and the Lord of the Rings series you'll love this movie!! Defiantly a must go!!!

I loved this first part of The Hobbit. As a fan of Tolkien and his books, I was worried about what would and would not be included in the films. While there were changes from the book, they were for the most part small, and they did not greatly affect my overall opinion of the film.
I liked that they went into more detail concerning the necromancer, making that an additional part of the story line instead of just a side note like it is in the book.
I simply cannot express enough how perfect I think Martin Freeman is for the role of Bilbo. I am a huge fan of him as an actor and was so pleased with his performance.
The riddle game was marvelous as well, everyone in the theater I went to was in fits of laughter through the whole thing. Loved it.
One thing that bothered me a little was some of the CG effects looked a bit more video game-y than the other Lord of the Rings movies, but again it did not bother me much.
There were things I didn't like, but the movie is wonderful.
