Storyline:
Cecily, Reggie, and Wilfred are in a home for retired musicians. Every year, on October 10, there is a concert to celebrate Verdi's birthday and they take part. Jean, who used to be married to Reggie, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva, but she refuses to sing. Still, the show must go on... and it does.

If you are of an age and like music, this is a "must go". Maggie Smith and her inmates are truly wonderful. I wish my parents had been in this beautiful retirement home!

Love and romance know no age limits. Easy to like, clever dialogue, lush scenery and great casting. Nothing spectacular and nothing not to like. If you like the current collection of movies showcasing "elder" statemen and women (who doesn't like Maggie Smith?), you'll enjoy Quartet.

Quartet is so beautifully made, presenting a group of octagenarians with dignity and love. Each character is so well crafted, that you feel for them. And that Dustin Hoffman used real life musicians is very tasteful and admirable. It has a nice rythm to the film, but perhaps a bit slow at about 1/3 into it -- but then it kicks in again and you are just hoping it won't end.
