I attended the premiere in Gettysburg and am going again tonight with all the friends and family I could gather. This is a wonderful movie that is beautifully made and lusciously scored. It drew me in like no other movie has in quite awhile. Sure, it's not a CG laden - action packed thriller... but this is a movie where you can finally care about ALL the characters. You feel what they feel. Totally refreshing... and a movie that will affect your soul in a good way. I'd take everybody age 13 and up.

My daughter and i saw this movie a few days ago. We loved it. It is a great period piece exploring Northern opinion during the Civil War. One town in the North (updates New York) is divided between Southern sympathizers and fervent abolitionists. All of the characters are well drawn and express their views without restraint. The movie is built around a love story between a boy whose father opposes the war and a girl whose father is a religious abolitionist fanatic. The boy volunteers to join the army along with many other young men from the town. With the young people off at war, conflicts continue in the town with eventual tragic and happy consequences. The movie if beautifully filmed and well acted. A great piece of American history. Well worth seeing.

This movie delivered a clear message, of which our family embraces. Even though it was rated PG13, (I am unclear why), it was a good clean family movie. It did not deliver the typical Hollywood **** & **** "luster", which was refreshing. It did deliver good principle, character, and truth. We all enjoyed it and will be purchasing it for our history collection when it comes out on DVD.
