Runner Runner?s glossy veneer and all-star cast are unable to save the film from a script that is all-to-familiar, uncompelling and unmemorable. The problem with Brad Furman?s direction with Runner Runner is that it lacks any real pulse. The film promises at suspense, but in reality delivers muted excitement at best. It is hardly worthy of its R-rating and although constantly hinting at real danger, one is more likely to receive a few blows than be killed by crossing Block. What may have been an intriguing story is spoiled by a plot line is so familiar that you?ll see every ?twist? coming. The writing is uninspired and the dialogue lacks any sensitivity in verbal expression, only furthered by the miscasting of Timberlake. Read the rest at moviemikereviews.com

This was just a good movie to watch, it was intense and the cast was stellar. Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck played well off each other and both were perfectly casted. This was a nice drama and Costa Rica is perfect location for this type of movie.

This is a great looking movie. It's set in Costa Rica and Affleck plays a gambling site owner who's in it for the thrill of it all, or at least used to be. Timberlake plays a Princeton grad student who gets cheated on the site and confronts Affleck's character about it. It's really a great looking film, especially the beach settings and the party scenes. However, it's also a movie that feels packaged to impress on a visual level and doesn't offer anything new or intriguing. There's the usual of everything in it. FBI agent on the chase? Check; poor guy trying to make it big? Check; rich guy who needs to commit heinous crimes to stay ahead of the law? Check; crooked politicians in foreign country taking brides to allow criminals to continue to operate? Check. It's formulaic across the board and the ending is like all those others you've seen. I only recommend it to those who are in the mood for this sort of packaged product.

Went to see Runner Runner last night on opening night at 10pm. Was one of less than a dozen people in the theatre. The movie was so-so. The casting was great, both Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck played great characters. The story line was also pretty good. The movie itself was just not that impressive. Very predictable towards the end. Alot of red-flags and questions arose but were never answered. I would not pay to see it again but would watch it again on DVD

And broke even. Runner Runner is one of those movies that isn't bad, but isn't anything special either. This movie doesn't deserve its R rating. It feels like it could easily be PG-13. It pulls no punches whatsoever. The story seems both far fetched and credible at the same time. There are lots of terms that will go over the heads of people not familiar with gambling. Timberlake shows that he is a very capable actor. Affleck doesn't even break a sweat as Runner Runner doesn't even begin to challenge his acting ability. Gemma Arterton works well with her limited script. Runner Runner is the kind of movie that is probably best watched at home but is enjoyable enough to watch at the theater without feeling like you wasted your money. I give it a go, but there are other movies in the theater worth checking out. There's nothing during or after the credits If you like my reviews, add me as a fan. I'll add you back!
