I thought this was a very entertaining movie, a rueful comedy. It's exactly the kind that I expect many professional critics to dislike because it is neither tragic nor anguished enough to satisfy those who prefer dark stories. But there are a lot of laughs, some straight from the belly, and some decent insights into human nature if not an attempt to go too deep into those questions. The direction was pedestrian, but it doesn't matter. The script must have been pretty good, and the actors do a great job with it. Frankly, even ignoring Adam Scott, who does a very solid job in the lead role, this is a film worth seeing just for the acting. The comic timing of Richard Jenkins, Jane Lynch and Catherine O'Hara are fabulous and their use of body language is remarkable. Amy Poehler and Ken Howard are superb in their roles. I cannot imagine anyone failing to enjoy this film. Easy watching combined with some enjoyable insights. Just go. Far better than Apatow.

The film deal with a tough subject--adult children of divorce. It is well-acted, beautifully written and directed. It is at times funny, sad, moving and seems painfully honest. I'd recommend it for ages 16 and up.

A.C.O.D. was extremely entertaining, funny and poignant. I loved it as did my teenage daughter - best movie we have seen in a while!
