I'm not a big fan of Woody Allen movies, but I'd heard good things about this one. I'm so glad I caught it in the theaters. Kate Blanchett embodies Jasmine so entirely I kept forgetting I was watching Kate Blanchett. The rest of the cast, as well, portrayed the compelling story line in a gifted manner. My only complaint was the ending.

if you want to be transported (maybe not to a place you want to be), you must see kate blanchett as jasmine. she IS jasmine. the secondary characters are too cartoonish in the writing and acting, but the character of jasmine is written exquisitely and acted even well beyond the writing.
