This movie was great. Such truth now days. The twist at the end was worth the whole movie. Clooney was exceptional.

Up in the Air - adapted for the screen from Walter Kim's novel of the same name by director Jason Reitman(Thank You for Smoking, JUNO) who also screen-wrote the script with Sheldon Turner has a unique opening sequence of aerial views of the earth/ground that was also used sporadically in the movie as a continuity device - a good example of beautiful cinematography. George Clooney and Vera Farmiga(wonderful on-screen chemistry) were supported by a talented cast that comprise Anna Kendrick, Jason Bateman, Danny McBride, Amy Morton, Melanie Lynskey, etc. In the 'documentary' segments of the movie, this technically excellent well-directed 109-min movie also featured real-life people who have recently lost their jobs. George Clooney played the role of a 'termination engineer' whose personal goal was to reach 10 million frequent-flyer miles. He may amass a lot of f-f miles but he has zero personal life - until he met Alex (Vera Farmiga). Overall, a excellent movie.

Knowing those losers in Hollywood who choose which movies win base on who know what, this boring George Clooney movie is nothing more than a movie about George Clooney, will win something, but the people WHO do spent their dollars to go to the movies will wonder why it was even in the race. Go see the blind side for a great movie and great acting and get your money back on this loser!

This movie has a very intense subject matter and the actors all do a great job. It is the type of movie that wins awards. However, the best entertaining moments were in the trailers for the movie. Don't go see this movie if you are looking for a comedy or if you have recently experienced a lay off from work. I do think the movie handled the subject matter of a failing economy and the weight that family and relationships have own a person well. This is not the type of movie I enjoy watching at the theatre as I like to go for entertainment. Though that is my preference it does deter from the fact that the movie covers a hard subject matter in a tasteful manner while providing a few laughs from good actors.
