For all you whining sniveling liberals out there this is your movie. Big bad "EVIL" America holds a soldier, who fully knowing AT HIS TIME OF ENLISTMENT , to his contractual agreement with the United States Army. Guess what thats eight years folks! How dare they! The scenes of PTSD these guys had was extremely touching. Its a tough job and war is awful I wouldn't want to go back with my my hands tied either. The acting was ok at best up to the point where I walked out about an hour into the movie. I'd have walked out if it was a bunch of right wing garbage as well. Thank President Clinton for downsizing our military during his presidency. Thats the true reason your watching movies like this. We DID have a large enough military to rotate soldiers in this war until he gutted it. Research, read, and think for yourselves people. Don't let Hollywood do it for you. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

I've been to Iraq twice. I can say that I found alot of this movie insulting, inaccurate, and entirely political. I will give the filmakers credit by saying that the battle scenes in the beginning were very realistic. They even gave me chills because I've been in similar situations. I can also tell you that most of the remaining movie was very inaccurate. The depictions of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder were all on the extreme side that frankly only about 3-5% of soldiers experience. Not all of them as was depicted in the movie. I myself suffered from it after my first tour as do most soldiers to a much lesser degree than what was shown in this movie. Frankly it's a problem that our army is still trying to fully understand and treat. As for the information on stop-loss...it is just short of completely false. No soldier is forced to deploy again after being home for 1 month as is depicted. Stop-loss isn't even instituted on a unit or individual until 60-90 days before deployment.

We went into this movie tonight not knowing what to expect. From what we'd seen from other reviewers, some people walked out after the first 5 minutes and for others it was life changing. We thought this movie was absolutely incredible. It gives real insight into these men's (no, NOT boys) lives as soldiers and the struggles they go through serving our country. This movie is filled with extremely skilled actors giving performances as soldiers trying to re-adjust to civilian life and at the same time still be military men. You truly feel their pain and frustration. Anyone who's said their performances were unemotional and "hard" doesn't understand that this is how our soldiers are trained. My only advice is to please see this movie. Don't view it as "anti-military". It's a good story that needs to be viewed the way it was intended, as one of growth and loyalty to country and family.

This is the most amazing, eye opening movie I've seen in a long time. I remember wanting so much to join the military when I was in school (b/c of an illness I was unable to). All you hear about is how great it is and how they will change your life. That may be the case for many men; and I'm not taking ANYTHING away from the glory of fighting for your country. However; this movie tells the sad truth about how millions of our men return home; if at all. Our country needs a change. Whether you know someone in the military or not; please- see this movie; and then VOTE!!!!!

As a soldier who has been deployed and has seen buddies deal with these issues, it hit home pretty well. Aside from a few things, I thought it was a great movie. SPOILER Also, I'm glad that SSG King made the right decision in the end.
