Paper Hearts confirms what we've all known, or at the very least suspected, for a long while now...that there is something very special about Michael Cera. He does not disappoint fans in his latest role (as himself). Opposite Charlyne Yi, he shines as his sublte and off-beat humor slowly win over the affection of Yi as she films a documentary on love (and her lack of belief that love exists). There have been many rumors online as to whether these two shared a real-life romance. I, for one, choose to believe that these two individuals, with such complimentary personalities and senses of humor, shared a real world connection (and reflect it in this movie). Michael's humor is fresh in the midst of all the brash in-your-face comedy seen today. He, for the most part, seems like that guy every one of us would like to call friend. A real guy: quirky, hilarious, comfortable in his own skin, and unique enough that you wonder what inside joke lies behind each of his sly smiles.

I saw this movie last night. The acting was kind of cheesy but that is possibly the point. It is a pseudo documentary that Charlene and Nick are putting together about love. She says that she is not in love and does not want to be in love, do you think that is for real? I would wait for this to come out on DVD.

I bought tickets for this movie Paper Hearts, my lady and i walked off half way it was a big waste everybody was playing the same dried up indie role (Michael Cera). charlie chan yi what ever her name she is a horrible actress and writer Nicholas Jasenovec sucks too.

A very creative, adventurous and funny mock-umentary featuring cute and possibly deluded [in her role] Charlyne and the perfect foil for her demeanor, Michael Cera whose affect and impish smile tells all. A film within a film, the protagonists seek to travel the nation interviewing people ranging from old couples to kids as to what "love" is and how they experience it. The tale of movie making is told as Char and Michael actually fall in love while denying it to themselves and to the camera. Augmented by some very cute puppeteering as commentary on the action, comprehensive interviews weren't necessary. The film has such a ring of authenticity, that one feels a kind of love for all the participants, and identifies with those experiences shared on film both intentionally and not so. Charlyne Yi is a great comedienne, even as she plays it straight. I appreciate subtlty in humor and she has it down pat, as do others in the film-making crew especially Cera. The ending is just plain great.
