not your traditional snow white retelling. earned the pg rating, I would have gone PG-13. LOTS of adult humor, sexual innuendo. the prince is shirtless down to his navel 3 times, the 7 dwarves are thieving bandits who attack strangers in the woods, and 1 scene 1 of them comes home drunk from a bar and several scenes of them shirtless too. there is lots of fighting and swordplay, but no bloodshed and no violent killing, but there is a rather scary, detailed CGI dragon/monster in the climax scene that is attacking snow white and they left in the part where she was taken to the woods to be murdered under orders of the queen who clearly says "I want her killed." there are several funny parts where my 5 & 6 yo laughed, but it was from the dwarves facial expressions mostly, they missed all the jokes and got bored about 2/3rds of the way through. love the female empowerment message of snow white, but it doesn't show up until the last 1/3 of the movie. really not for under 13

Saw the midnight premiere of "Mirror, Mirror". One of the smartest-written scripts in years! It's fun, self-aware, and takes the time to knock down the fourth wall to ensure the audience is in on the jokes. Energy/chemistry of the ensemble cast is infectious, and the laugh-out-loud/big grin moments had me thinking "Princess Bride" before the first act was over. Roberts is an amazing Evil Queen. She shifts gears from vain to funny to sinister without missing a beat, and Lane brings a lot of warmth and depth to Brighton, but it's the dwarves (Klebba, Prentice, and Co) who truly steal the show. Their banter and interplay are infectious and they deliver the most memorable scenes. Hammer's Prince is affable, but careful not to upstage Collins' Snow White. They make a pretty good team, and pull off a memorable sword fight (w/a few apparent callbacks to the Montoya/Roberts duel in Princess Bride). Singh's Bollywood ending? Kinda' fun: another self-aware bit. Liked TPB? See this!

This movie is a waste of time. Maybe a sub teen girl might like it but no one over 11. The person playing Snow White is nothing special in the looks department. Selena Gomez or someone of equal beauty would have been good and there must be hundreds of thousands that pretty but for some reason they didn't pick a beautiful heroine.

I went because I knew Julia wouldn't be in a bad movie, and I was right. This is a very funny, well-written movie, I laughed a lot. It is witty and all the actors are great. Definitely go!
