Storyline:
Workaholic and sleazy businessman Sam is extremely reluctant to leave New York and go to his father's funeral. When he finally arrives, it becomes apparent that his mother and girlfriend are disappointed in him for "running away" whenever times get too emotional. Soon afterwards, he discovers that his father was sleeping around with another woman, and that Sam actually has a half-sister whom he never knew existed. His father has willed her $150,000 and has left Sam with the task of getting it to her. Frankie is a bartender also wrapped up in work just like her half-brother, and she has had a bad past and has now been left with the job of being a single parent to her troublemaker son, Josh. Josh is eleven years old but curses like a sailor and constantly makes fart jokes and sex jokes, making him popular with the bad kid crowd at school, although behind the act, Josh is depressed and lonely. Now Sam has to find a way to fix the past and reunite his mom, nephew and half-sister together ...

It's been too, too long since I've enjoyed an intelligent, moving, and quirky movie, as, People Like Us. Actors embraced their roles, sans loosing individuality or creativity. Great for tweens, with parental involvement. The audience becomes a willing partner in the journey, the tour of life from the protagonist's perspective. Kudos to Michael Hall D'Addario portraying the, not so lost, tween, who made us forget that he was acting. Loved the story, acting, albeit imperfectly forced cameo by Favero. Go see this movie! .........pass the popcorn, pls. ..............

This is truly a good movie,I liked it very much. Very well put together and great acting. Very realistic script. Sad at times .I could really relate to the situation . Wouldn't take younger children to it. I cried at the ending it was so good. So many families have suffered the same way this one did. The kid played his part really great and great writing for his parts too. Kept me laughing and relating to my own kids.

If you're looking for a great story, well executed by players who can really make you identify with them, this is your ticket. This play is well written, the dialogue tight and wonderfully crafted. The perfect casting adds a special kind of excellence here, seldom found in films in this genre or of this micro-budget. No big studio effects, flashy stunts, music or locations, just a solid, thoroughly entertaining movie about adult situations, intended for an adult audience. See it. You won't be disappointed.

Saw it with my young teens and prompted a great talk about family and which grandparents and family members they look like.
Great movie that might help shed a little more light or understanding about the decisions we make in the complicated lives we live now, especially with divorce or infidelity.
A very powerful and uplifting ending to the movie.
