Storyline:
In 1865, as the American Civil War winds inexorably toward conclusion, U.S. president Abraham Lincoln endeavors to achieve passage of the landmark constitutional amendment which will forever ban slavery from the United States. However, his task is a race against time, for peace may come at any time, and if it comes before the amendment is passed, the returning southern states will stop it before it can become law. Lincoln must, by almost any means possible, obtain enough votes from a recalcitrant Congress before peace arrives and it is too late. Yet the president is torn, as an early peace would save thousands of lives. As the nation confronts its conscience over the freedom of its entire population, Lincoln faces his own crisis of conscience -- end slavery or end the war.

Great Movie , Daniel Day Lewis is honestly one of my favorite actors , he can play any kind of role , and play it so good that you almost forget that is him playing the role.I love the fact that "Spielberg" showed him in this Movie not as this symbolic icon of Beloved President , but showed him as a person and what kind of life he lived .I Highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes history but also to look at Lincoln other side beside politics , a side of a true humanitarian and good spirited person as he was in times of very difficult decision making that gave us a freedom that we have today , but above all we should learn from this movie , that great leaders are not made by easy decisions but by a very difficult ones that in today's politics is nonexistent.

Great story, well told with humor and humanity. Has politics really changed in 150 years? You be the judge. This is the level of detail I never got in school. I definitely would have been a better student if it had been presented like this. I was totally engrossed and entertained for the whole show. Another Spielberg triumph with great acting all around and realistic staging.

This is a terrific moviegoing experience! The fact that this is history and a great lesson for us all to see is just a plus, because this is movie-making at its finest. There are action and battle scenes, great drama in Congress, The White House, and between the members of the Lincoln family. Just about every actor is top-notch and they seem to be enjoying themselves immensely. The 2 1/2 hours just fly by. Special mention to the acting of Daniel Day Lewis. He does it again. HE IS LINCOLN! What a great actor. It was also amusing to see James Spader back in the saddle again. He's hilarious in his role! Truly, this is a great film that everyone should see. I'm considering seeing it a second time because I'm sure I missed some subtle nuances.

daniel day lewis portrayal of abraham lincoln is a tour de force. you actually feel you are in the same room with lincoln. his persona and lincoln mannirisim's are right. the hands down winner for best actor next year. I actfully cried at the conclusion of this movie. Speilberg has directed a masterpiece
