From beginning to end it was awful. The plot started way to early before you really got a chance to figure what was going on and why it was evening happening. The order was all wrong and there were quite a few scenes that made absolutely no sense. The acting was a mediocre, to be expected for much of the cast, but not so much for Whitaker. I wouldn't suggest anyone pay to see this movie, just wait for it on Netflix or HBO.

It's a must see because of the characters, Whitaker, Epps, Lathan etc etc. It's not that great however. Go see for yourself, perfect for a date night.

Good movie, if you are going to get the popcorn get it after the first 5-10 minutes of the movie. The ending makes you ask what the...

There is a worthwhile plot and some very poignant dialog/meaning there. It is really tragic that there was not more patience given to character development. It is clear that the editor/director did not fully conceptualize what this should look like in it's final form probably because it does not neatly fit into one genre of film. It is not really a horror film. And it borders on what some consider 'psychic', although it remains soberly in the realm of experiences that are true to grief-stricken individuals psychologically. It is more a psychological thriller. It is really about the use of pop vernacular that sounds meaningful, but is actually quite empty if it does not reflect true growth and integration. With such specialized psychological films, a competent psychiatrist should be used in consultation. Recently, a film with Benicio de Toro, "Jimmy P", was similarly flawed, although Forest's portrayal of the griefstricken individual had greater verisimilitude.

This is a muddled, sickening story about madness, torture, and death with an obscure ending. Forest Whitaker does a good job, but the script is so bad, the movie simply can't be saved.
