Seems like there were a lot of Western or ?Western-like? films out this year. Many of them quite good, this film being no exception. I really enjoyed Bale?s performance, I think he is a top-notch actor. Though this type of film seems to suit Russell Crowe I wasn?t crazy about his performance. However over all I?d say this movie is definetly worth a rent if you are itchin? for a show down!

No offense Clint, your westerns are loved, but this remake of 3:10 is the best contribution to this genre I've seen in decades. Crowe and Bale are outstanding, and the action is fast-paced enough to keep things interesting while still allowing the characters room to develop dramatically. Even if you're not a fan of western flicks, you should give this one a chance, for the acting, for the adventure, and for the scenery--you won't be disappointed.

I took my wife to the preview showing last Sunday night and must say we both were delighted with this film and not disappointed with the story, acting or western authenticity. The ending was disappointing but necessary I guess if you see the movie you will know what I mean, go to someone else's review if you want to spoil the surprise. We are crazy HBO Deadwood fans and for us to like this movie after three seasons of the best ever western on film is saying something. Russel Crowe is excellent as the bad guy you grow to like, Christian Bayle is the scarred civil war veteran as this story unfolds in the late 1860's. Bayles character has a son that stole the screen, outstanding acting job from a 15 yr old boy. You got your celestials, as we call em in deadwood. Lots of shooting and life is cheap but finds opportunity at bizzarre off color humor. Kids over 12 OK, lots of guys shot at a distance no up close dying or blood and guts. A few really cruel killings but no sex.

Most exhilarating Western I've ever seen. It's hard to refrain from cliches like gripping, mesmerizing, all-consuming but those words exactly fit the performances by Russell Crowe & Christian Bale. Crowe's combination of sardonic outlaw, equal parts mocking and lethal, and Bale's portrayal of a man diminished by circumstance, rising to become a hero in purpose and example were some of the most superb acting I think I've ever seen in this genre. True to the westerns of old, but with characters so fully fleshed and realized that they leap off the screen with impact. Dynamic, layered, shifting allegiances and alliances.... I'd see it again and again. Major nods as well to the young actor who plays Bale's son, and Ben Foster who plays the psychopathic second-in-command of Crowe's outlaw band. Last but not least Peter Fonda, as a grizzled, bitter, self-righteous bounty hunter. So awesome to see him acting!

This movie starts out a little slow but steadily picks up steam as it moves along. Everyone should see this one. The ending will literally blow you away. It's really a good story and Russel Crow's performance makes this move a spectacular movie. I highly recommend this one.
