This is a great movie whether you know anything about "Watchmen" or not. It has everything and the cinematics of the entire movie look amazing. If you don't know anything about the graphic novel and want to see the movie, it is dark and I definitely wouldn't take the kids. You really need to see this movie.

Im tired of seeing people complain that its too slow and there's not enough action, if you read the comic you know its NOT AN ACTION MOVIE...yeah there are some fight scenes and some cool moments but its a story about characters, it has depth and subject matter. So dont listen to anybody who says its boring because they are the ones who went in expecting a fight scene every 5 minutes like bad boys 2 or something...its a drama/mystery so go in with an open mind.

I went to see an advanced screening of Watchmen last night with my buddy, and I was not disappointed. Having been a very big fan of the graphic novel, I had high hopes for this movie. All in all, it was an incredible movie. The story was well condensed, although personally I thought it could have been longer. They left a lot of the backstory and secondary characters out, so for the full experience I suggest you read the graphic novel too. Zach Snyder brings his epic style to this movie, which is filled with brutal fight scenes and some pretty impressive effects. However, i don't suggest you try and bring any younger kids, as this movie can get pretty...graphic. Its definitelty an adult movie. On a further note, if you are expecting to see something mindless like fantastic 4, think again. This is a pretty intense movie, and you're gonna need to pay attention to the storyline. Except for a few small changes, this was a perfect adaptation of the book. I can't wait to see it again friday!

I hesitate to recommend this movie to people who haven't read the comic on which it's based. The marketing of Watchmen might lead one unfamiliar with the comic to assume that it will be an action movie, but in fact Watchmen is a slow drama interspersed with scenes of graphic violence. Stylistically, it's a triumph, and it certainly looks unlike any other film you're likely to see. The visuals are brilliant, as are some of the performances. But for every good thing there is to say about Watchmen, there's a caveat, a remainder which is not so good. The performance from the lead female is perhaps one of the worst I've seen in recent memory. Those who are not invested in these characters, or the events, may grow incredulous at the realization that this film keeps secrets from the uninitiated, and it can be downright impenetrable to some. I enjoyed it, with reservations, and so did my friends. But Watchmen will, without a doubt, both satisfy and alienate at the same time.

I just attended the advance press preview of this R-rated 2hr 43mins comic-book/graphic novel movie-adaptation by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons - superbly directed by Zack Snyder. I've read the complex graphic novel and I had very high expectations - which were met!!! Watchmen is visually STUNNING! Literally a work of art! EXCELLENT well-casted talented ensemble. Yes - there were plenty of flash - but equally plenty of substance for balance - Watchmen possess DEPTH - heavy adult themes. NEITHER THE GRAPHIC NOVEL NOR THE MOVIE WERE EVER MEANT FOR KIDS. VERDICT: Since this is a R-rated movie - minors/kids are prohibited - and for some people to belly-ache/complain about the graphic depiction of violence/brutality, sexuality, grittiness,... - are just superfluous - totally unwarranted. If R-rated movies bother/offend you - then PLEASE do yourself a favor - DON'T SEE this movie. Otherwise, SHUT-UP - stop whining! Kick yourself if you miss this movie. A MUST-SEE!!!
