Sweet little movie. Thanks to Abigail Breslin it's much better than it ought to be. Ms Breslin brings spunk and energy to the roll of Kit a ten year old aspiring reporter. She creates a very likeable character carrying what otherwise would have been a very silly movie. The plot is a little too simple even for it's young target audience. Still, it seemed that most of the tween viewers really enjoyed watching their favorite doll brought to life. The audience roots for Kit as she tries to save her home from forclosure. Watching the characters lose their jobs, homes, and cars as a result of the depression felt hauntingly similar to the same economic problems many American families are confronting today. However, the family's can do attitude is refreshing. Dad reminds Kit, "don't let it beat you." An excellent piece of advice as good now as it was in 1930. By all means go and take your daughter.

Kit Kittredge is an excellent family movie. I (age 40) took my two daughters (ages 11 and 6) , my 9 year old nephew and my 83 year old mother to see it, and it held everyone's attention from start to finish. There was plenty of G-rated adult humor to keep the older set entertained, in fact, I heard a lot of laughter from the adults in the audience throughout the film. I was a little worried that it would be too "girly" for my nephew, but to my surprise it wasn't and he really seemed to enjoyed it. It ws great for my mother because it was a time (late 1930's) that she lived in, and could relate to the scenery, cars, music, you name it. The story has plenty of moral value (which is lacking in so many films now adays), and plenty of star power. Not only Abigail Breslin, but Chris O'Donnell, Julia Ormond, Joan Cusack, Stanley Tucci, and more. I can't believe this film didn't get more press. I highly recommend it! Will be a must own on DVD too!

My four daughters (yea - four!) ages 10, 9, 8, and 5 loved this movie. As a parent, I liked it too. It is a good story well portrayed with a message that is positive for young children. Definately more of a girl movie - young boys probably won't want to be seen there - but, if you have a daughter or two, you should go. Of course, now my girls want American Girl Dolls (TM) for Christmas. Have you seen the prices on these things?! Yikes!

I took my 6 yr old daughter to the premiere in Atlanta. She paid attention throughout the movie! The story held her attention, she laughed out loud and cheered at the end! For a non-animated film, this was a GREAT experience!
