Storyline:
The Rocker tells the story of a failed drummer who is given a second chance at fame. Robert "Fish" Fishman is the extremely dedicated and astoundingly passionate drummer for the eighties hair band Vesuvius, who is living the rock n' roll dream until he is unceremoniously kicked out of the band. Twenty years after his rock star fantasies are destroyed, just when Fish has finally given up all hope, he hears that his nephew's high school rock band A.D.D. is looking for a new drummer. They reluctantly make him the newest member of the band, giving him a chance to reclaim the rock God throne he's always thought he deserved, and taking the young band along for the ride of their lives.

This movie was such a surprising treat. I ditched Mamma Mia! and walked into The Rocker about 45 minutes in - a smart move! The script is pitch perfect and the entire cast brilliant. Rates right up there with School of Rock. I am in my 40s and this movie is not dumb at all - it is witty, clever and and raucously funny. So many of the jokes just sailed right over my kids' heads while my hubby and I were rolling in the aisles. I can't wait to see the first half of this movie!

I went into the theater expecting this to be a funny movie, which it was, but it also had a great story behind it. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone! Enjoy

What a fun movie! I probably won't remember much of it a week from now, but the performances were good, the plot was a decent mishmash of many movies you've probably seen before ("That Thing You Do" and 'School of Rock' immediately come to mind), the music was excellent and the humor was continuous, ranging from old-fashioned slapstick to "This is Spinal Tap" farce to Will Ferrell-type body work to YouTube generation inventiveness. It did make me feel old to see Christina Applegate playing the mom of a son who is the age of Kelly Bundy, but I'll get over it. By the way, don't know why the movie is Not Rated yet, but it felt like a very mild PG-13 bordering on PG.

Another "Superbad", IMHO. A terrific movie--especially attractive for middle-aged folks. Good humor without, only occasionally venturing into the yuk-yuk stuff. Four thumbs up.

I don't know what movie the two over-worked morons below me saw, but I just saw an advanced preview and the film was awesome. R Wilson really surprised me - completely different from his role on the office, Will Arnett was in the film up top and then comes back at the end and the execution and twist at the very end was a nice surprise. Plus Demetri Martin was uniquely perfect as a video director but , Jason Sedeikuis from SNL was by far the biggest surprise. In fact everyone in the film was brilliantly cast. It was nice to go to a film and be really taken with the story and characters plus have original jokes. The dialogue and one liners were very smart. and the music was great. It reminded me of how surprised I was when I saw 40 Year Old Virgin. Those two below must be stupid because the advance screenings have been free. (They paid?) I mean it makes TOTAL sense they they register here JUST to trash the film. And praise Fracture. Morons. And obvious ones at that.
