Perfectly respectable youngster Ben refuses to stand by when his girl-friend, provocatively impish drug addict Sophie, is shipped off by her airhead ma and brutally domineering stepfather to dodgy Dr. Norman Hail's completely isolated Fiji 'boot camp'. Ben fakes drug problems to get enrolled in the 'serenity' rehabilitation program from wayward teenagers according to their often irresponsible parents. Under ex-military guards captain Logan's ruthless sway, Ben saves an exhausted boy's life before attempting an escape with Sophie.

Fundamentalist sect member BeckyLyn is accused of killing her husband. Queenie, another wife in the polygamist sect, doesn't believe BeckyLyn is capable of such violence and desperate to prove her innocence reaches out to her excommunicated son Jordan for help in freeing his mother.

A young mother suffers her worst nightmare -the drowning of her young daughter. Two years later, Jamie gives birth to another girl. After a series of suspicious accidents, Jamie becomes haunted by fears that her dead daughter's vengeful spirit has returned in her new baby. Is she right, or is guilt over her daughter's death pushing her sanity over the edge?

A story set against the Mountain Meadows Massacre, the film is based upon the tragedy which occurred in Utah in 1857. A group of settlers, traveling on wagons, was murdered by the native Mormons. All together, about 140 souls of men, women and children, were taken. Amidst this, two young lovers-to-be, one a Mormon and the other one of the doomed settlers from Arkansas, develop a relationship in an atmosphere of suspicion and rancor.
