Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Dwayne started painting, drawing and sculpting from the early age of 6. He began his acting career when he was 12 years old and landed his first role for screen when he was 15 in the US television movie Amazon High (1997), filmed in New Zealand and directed by Michael Hurst. He played the boyfriend of Selma Blair (Cruel Intentions, Hellboy). He then went onto work with Hollywood legend William Shatner (Boston Legal, Star Trek) in William Shatner's A Twist in the Tale (1999), produced in Wellington by Cloud Nine. Then was cast for the lead role by the same company for the cult TV series The Tribe (1999). For the next three years he completed 156 episodes of The Tribe and went on a number of publicity tours to Europe and the USA, appearing in all major youth media to promote the show and the spin-off album. He also represented The Tribe in Los Angeles when it was a nominee at the 2000 GAIT Awards for international television drama. In 2001 Dwayne went on to play guest roles in numerous international television dramas including, Love Bites (2001) and Dark Knight (2001). Later in 2001 Dwayne landed lead roles in two multi award winning TV dramas: Mercy Peak and Street Legal. In Mercy Peak he played the emotionally tortured Gus Van Der Velter, and in Street Legal the role of James Peabody. Dwayne completed both series two years later in 2003. In 2004 and 2005 Dwayne had guest roles in Disney's: Power Rangers Dino Thunder and Power Rangers S.P.D. In 2007 he landed the lead role of Tyzonn in Power Rangers Operation Overdrive and in 2008 he had a guest role in the New Zealand's longest running TV drama Shortland Street. Lead roles in feature films include: The Possum Hunter (2000), The Locals (2003), Cockle (2005), and No Destination (2007), which he filmed in Los Angeles and got to work alongside John Savage (The Deer Hunter, The God Father III, The Thin Red Line). Dwayne moved to LA in 2004 where he is managed by Crystal Sky Management, and since then has been spending his time between LA, Auckland, and Sydney. While in LA he has trained at the Stella Adler Academy in Hollywood and at the Ivana Chubbuck Acting Studio in her advanced classes. He has also trained in Sydney, Australia at the Actors Studio and in Auckland, New Zealand at the Michael Chekhov Acting School. In 2009 Dwayne landed a lead role in the brand new TV drama series The Cult, where he played Nathan Lewis, a paranoid schizophrenic. Later that year Dwayne also played the character Kur in Legend Of The Seeker.
He trained at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting in Hollywood.He also trained at the Ivana Chubbuck Acting Studio in LA.Dwayne is a professional painter and sculptor.Dwayne left New Zealand by himself for Africa when he was only 18 years old.In 2008 Dwayne trained again at the Michael Chekhov Acting School in Auckland, New Zealand.In 2009 Dwayne trained at the Actors Studio in Sydney, Australia.
