Are you sure, you want to add WALL·E
to your wish list?
Storyline:
In a distant, but not so unrealistic, future where mankind has abandoned earth because it has become covered with trash from products sold by the powerful multi-national Buy N Large corporation, WALL-E, a garbage collecting robot has been left to clean up the mess. Mesmerized with trinkets of Earth's history and show tunes, WALL-E is alone on Earth except for a sprightly pet cockroach. One day, EVE, a sleek (and dangerous) reconnaissance robot, is sent to Earth to find proof that life is once again sustainable. WALL-E falls in love with EVE. WALL-E rescues EVE from a dust storm and shows her a living plant he found amongst the rubble. Consistent with her "directive", EVE takes the plant and automatically enters a deactivated state except for a blinking green beacon. WALL-E, doesn't understand what has happened to his new friend, but, true to his love, he protects her from wind, rain, and lightning, even as she is unresponsive. One day a massive ship comes to reclaim EVE, but WALL-E, ...

First, let me say that this is only the second time that I have braved the theater with my small child. People who bring infants and toddlers who cannot keep still and quiet should be permanently banned from any movie shown after 4pm in my opinion. Having survived Kung Fu Panda, we moved on to WALL-E, the movie that she has been waiting for "for soo, sooooo long Mommy, are we going on this day?".
WALL-E delivers. He is the little engine that could of robots that were left behind to clean up our very big mess. He has been alone for a very long time, only a seemingly indestructable cockroach for company when EVE arrives. From there out it is pure magic. This is a PIxar film, so keep an ear out for John Ratzenberger, of course. But go see this movie. Rent a kid if you feel out of place going without one. My little one has already convinced her godparents to take her to see it again and is working on other relatives as well. Go see WALL-E, discover that robots have feelings too

The most boring movie I've seen in years. I feel especially bad because it consumed over 1.5 hours of my life that I can never get back. I am at least 20% stupider for having seen it. Wish I had saved the $8 & stayed home & punched myself in the face for 1.5 hours. I would have payed an additional $8 to make it stop.

I just saw this at a sneak preview last night. It was absolutely delightful! You will find yourself caring so much about this darling little robot, you'll be surprised how emotionally invested you become. There is an underlying environmental message, but I didn't feel like it was preachy at all or distracted from the sheer fun of the movie. I laughed out loud many, many times. Anyone who doesn't enjoy this movie has a lump of coal for a heart.
MOVIES REVIEWER
WALL-E - with its carefully designed imaginative futuristic renderings is another HIGH-QUALITY PIXAR production. (PRESTO!) *wink*
Director Andrew Stanton, with over a decade of experience at PIXAR, successfully imbued WALL-E with the PIXAR 'touches' - sleek storyline, well-fleshed-out plot, and INCREDIBLE characterizations.
This 97-minute movie is MORE than just about a lonely robot.
WALL-E has strong eco-messages to deliver to all of us - it directly comments on our current culture of excessive consumerism; the sad state of our garbage/waste management system(s); the prevalent attitude of apathy for the future of our planet/Mother Earth in general; and our rising rates of obesity.
Most of the above will go over the majority of younger audiences' heads BUT there are plenty to enthrall them. There are charmingly cutesy and captivating fun characters and hilarious moments - that pet cockroach is a scene-stealer!
HIGHLY recommended family-friendly entertainment!
