Seriously. This movie is just a live action / CGI version of The Iron Giant. Don't get me wrong, the movie is worth seeing just for the acting of the two kids who play the deputy's son and the town drunk's daughter. You can ignore the predictable script and enjoy all the action (not to mention enough young-teenagers-in-love tears to make this an acceptable chick flick). Nevertheless, try to go to a matinee when the tickets are cheaper. Otherwise, this would be a "so-so" movie.

Super 8 blended a good story about the strength of family and friendship set in the late 1970s with a healthy dose of fantasy and science fiction. Seeing that both Spielberg and JJ Abrams figured in this film hinted that the viewer would be well entertained. The characters were well cast especially Elle Fanning and the other actors who played the young people's roles. Ms. Fanning gave an outstanding performance. The sound track really brings home the feel of the 1970s era as do certain items such as the Walkman scene. This film will appeal to most viewers but young children might be frightened at parts where characters and figures appear suddently without warning or be overwhelmed by the sounds of loud noises. One needs to stay and watch the film through the credits to reap the full benefit of the meaning of the film. I saw this film on a large screen and felt like a part of the film. Nothing beats the feeling. I rate Super 8 a big 10. Go see it!

My wife and I walked out before it was over. What a piece of junk and a waste of our money! Great job on the advertisement to get us there! This movie was comparable to one made back in the 50's, on the version of the "The Blob" or "The Thing". Pure garbage!

Incredible movie. One of the best I've seen this year.

Super 8 couldn't have been more action packed! The storyline, for the most part, was great. The only problem is the movies is so built up to just be let down at the end. VERY ANTICLIMACTIC!! For the main characters being all children, the acting was pretty up to par. But I would recommend this movie to adults (I know it's rated PG-13, but the rating should have been R).
