This is a fantastic movie, new, exicting, simple, you laugh, you cry, it is very beautifull in black and white The actors are fantastic I trully love everything about it

the Artist like Hugo is a praiseworthy movie and a lamentation on the end of movies. While it stands as a story of the early days of talking pictures, it also seems to be saying we are heading into a new era of entertainment that does not involve the community experience of theater going - only personal viewing of images via internet. What is the difference? caring , which is the theme of the Artist. everybody cares about the lead actor, even his dog! And he may not realize this because he is narcissistically involved with his public image . All manner of photographic( "looking" thru the lense of the camera) and plot devices( characters as guardian angels) are used to simulate the reality of movie making so that like Hugo it is panoply of film making history. 5 *'s

I only heard about this movie because I worked as a video tech at an event where the trailer for the film was played. Other than that, I never saw any advertisement for it. The trailer intrigued me, and it just so happened that the movie came out in theaters at the same time that I was to go on a date with a girl. So I invited her to come see this movie. I was honestly worried about asking a girl to go see a silent film on the first date, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The Artist ended up being one of the most satisfying movies that either of us had ever seen. This movie glued everyone to the screen for its entire duration. Nobody in the audience said a single word. The movie does require concentration but it's easy because it is so enthralling. The movie gets very dramatic; but just when it gets to be too much, there is comic relief in all the right places but it doesn't detract from the emotion in the story.

Wonderfully acted, well conceived in its originality and the underlying reflections on how generations deal with change. This is a must see film, for everyone who loves film, who wants to be entertained. The characters present themselves so authentically. The direction is crisp, the story is so creative you are fully caputred and held in your seat. And all this, with only silent movie titles. Not to be missed.

Beautifully acted and directed. Could have moved faster, but it was a pleasure to enjoy the technique and that it was so poignant despite the fact that there was no dialogue.
