Storyline:
Eight talented candidates have reached the final stage of selection to join the ranks of a mysterious and powerful corporation. Entering a windowless room, an Invigilator gives them eighty minutes to answer one simple question. He outlines three rules they must obey or be disqualified: don't talk to him or the armed guard by the door, don't spoil their papers and don't leave the room. He starts the clock and leaves. The candidates turn over their question papers, only to find they're completely blank. After the initial confusion has subsided, one frustrated candidate writes 'I believe I deserve...,' and is promptly ejected for spoiling. The remaining candidates soon figure out they're permitted to talk to each other, and they agree to cooperate in order to figure out the question: then they can compete to answer it. At first they suspect the question may be hidden in their papers like a security marker in a credit card...

I rarely write reviews, but after reading Rich S's uninformed, useless review, I felt compelled.
A guy that characterizes Cornell West as having "smoked too much weed", reveals that he is unfit to review this movie. More useful would be to have someone that has never heard of Miles Davis write a review of a jazz trumpet collection. Holy ****- one of the problems in this culture is that idiots like that feel moved to share their strong opinions regarding things they know little or nothing about.
The movie rocks - but maybe only IF you are 1) an inquisitive person looking for insights regarding the "big questions" that philosophers have wrestled with for thousands of years, and are still wrestling with and/or if you are looking for some ways to apply these questions to modern life, OR 2) open to new challenges and thoughts, OR 3) not a fan of Rich S's (lol).

Check it out. Great film. Really.

Another discussion flick that falls completely flat. The interviewees sound for all the world as if they are making stuff up on the fly. Supposedly they were selected on the basis that they had something that was not either obvious or mere opinion to say that was worthy of filming. As for the theme, ie the "examinations of life", which few of the 8 interviewees actually adhered to, amounted to puerile reminences and justifications for their present philosophically vacuous state. The guy in the cab [Cornel somebody] is at times utterly incoherent. Too much weed I would suppose. Finally this film is about a decade late wrt philosophy [beating the drum for postmodernism] and currency [interviewees living in the past] Film deserves mention as a failed comedy. Save your money and your sanity.
