Storyline:
Juli Baker devoutly believes in three things: the sanctity of trees (especially her beloved sycamore), the wholesomeness of the eggs she collects from her backyard flock of chickens, and that someday she will kiss Bryce Loski. Ever since she saw Bryce's baby blues back in second grade, Juli has been smitten. Unfortunately, Bryce has never felt the same. Frankly, he thinks Juli Baker is a little weird--after all, what kind of freak raises chickens and sits in trees for fun? Then, in eighth grade, everything changes. Bryce begins to see that Juli's unusual interests and pride in her family are, well, kind of cool. And Juli starts to think that maybe Bryce's brilliant blue eyes are as empty as the rest of Bryce seems to be. After all, what kind of jerk doesn't care about other people's feelings about chickens and trees? With Flipped, mystery author Wendelin Van Draanen has taken a break from her Sammy Keyes series...

I strongly recommend this touching comedy by Rob Reiner. Brilliant work; can't believe I missed it in theaters.

A beautifully made film. Accurate to the moods of the 50's and 60's. We saw it as a group (5 of us) and we all related to the characters. The acting was perfect and the story line was well developed and approached creatively. We all loved this film!

This is more than a cute movie with a story line. It's filled with moral messages that create talking points for parents and kids. Rob has created a movie that requires thinking. There's no sex, no guns, no drugs. It's a movie about right from wrong and the pressures put on kids. Take your kids and ask them about their feelings. You'll be surprised.

Reminded me of the TV show "Wonder Years". Seems most appropriate for a 14 year old girl, although most of the people in the audience were middle age and older women. I think it probably appeals to our nostalgia for a different time with different values. I enjoyed it, won't get an Oscar.
