did I miss something? I don't get the movie.

There Willl Be Blood is a tough act to follow. I wanted The Master to be perfect. But I left the theater late last night with a sinking feeling that it didn't meet my expectations. I thought the characters and premise were really interesting, the actors did incredible work...but something about the story as a whole didn't quite hold together.

I didn't like this film. It is slow, trying to impress with pictures and failing to have a good story line. If you want to see an impressive movie this is not the one to see.

Was there with a group of people in anticipation of a good movie. The pictures are nice but the story is confused and inconsistent. We left in a bad mood and went to see another movie to save the night.

This is an attempt at a masterpiece that goes a great way towards achieving it. The performances are worth the price of admission. The dialogue is excellent. The story is, for the most part, riveting. You'll stare at the screen slightly confused and love it. Things start to get a little too strange towards the end and smatterings of "very odd indeed" throughout, but you can take it. If you want to have seen all the Oscar nominated films and performances, you're going to start here.
