Storyline:
In the 1930s, an elderly Tonto tells a young boy the tale of John Reid, the Lone Ranger. An idealistic lawyer, he rides with his brother and fellow Texas Rangers in pursuit of the notorious Butch Cavendish. Ambushed by the outlaw and left for dead, John Reid is rescued by the renegade Comanche, Tonto, at the insistence of a mysterious white horse and offers to help him to bring Cavendish to justice. Becoming a reluctant masked rider with a seemingly incomprehensible partner, Reid pursues the criminal against all obstacles. However, John and Tonto learn that Cavendish is only part of a far greater injustice and the pair must fight it in an adventure that would make them a legend.

Great summer movie. I was excited about this movie when I saw the trailers. Was disappointed to hear that some movie reviewers did not like it. Now having seen it, I wonder how those reviewers keep their jobs at all. Quite a puzzle.
Great movie, good character development, reasonable special effects. Absolutely great cinematic treatment of Monument Valley! Surpassing those of John Huston and his great westerns.
Historical depth vis a vis American Indians, railroads, etc that I do not remember in the 1950's tv series.
Have a summer staycation, see this movie, enjoy Monument Valley, a new deeper take on the Lone Ranger, and hear that theme music one more time.

This movie was outstanding! It was not what I expected at all, yet I was very pleasantly surprised. It has absolutely the story line it should have. It has lots of action for those who love that kind of movie without seeming like it is just there to gain fans. It is not for those with a weak stomach. Part of what makes it good is they portray it just as it truly would have been - Bad guy is a BAD GUY! Johnny Depp is again perfect as Tonto, but movie would not have been terrible without him. MUSIC IS OUTSTANDING!

Being a fan of western movies and seeing the trailer I was skeptical going in to see this movie. I've seen all the "Big" movies this summer and this movie has it all. Comedy, Action (plenty of that), and somewhat historical accuracy concerning the way the Indians where treated during the railroad expansion. The reality is that they where treated far worse than what this movie shows. This movie lays the groundwork for future Lone Ranger movies telling the back story of both of the main characters explaining how each came to be who he was. Also the original Lone Ranger music score is in it. (If you've never heard it, go on YT and listen). I'll definitely be going to see this again this weekend.
Depending on what you allow your kids to see its good 10+ age wise with most of the violence at Pirates of the Caribbean scale.
Nothing after the credits so don't waste your time.
P.S. Don't pay attention to the critic's.

This life long Lone Ranger fan enjoyed this film tremendously. I didn't know who Army Hammer was, but I liked him in this film. Depp as always was great. Only negative is that it is a bit young.

Although there are shortcomings with this movie, they do not take away from the entertainment value. For two-and-a-half hours, we are taken to a place in the Wild West as we envisioned it as children. There is no vulgarity, little gore, and plenty of laughs. The Lone Ranger probably fails to reach the lofty standards that people had set for it, but will surpass your expectation in raw entertainment, and maybe remind you why you enjoy going to the movies.
