This is the kind of movie that leaves you richer for having experienced it. There are no "Hallmark endings" and a slice of life picture that resorts to that sort of heart tugging maudlin technique has no relationship to life or cinema of the highest order. A movie about real, fully dimensioned characters is a rare bird and the dark humor of the story is filled with the kind of unsentimental realism that reaches into our psyche and shakes us awake. Reality is not simple, nor are humans, and the characters and performances in this film are richly textured. If you don't like thinking about and reflecting on the human condition, this movie is not for you. However if you find joy in the simple truth that we all are connected, and life is precious, walk with wild abandon to the theatre nearest you.

Excellent. Everyone was wonderful. Perfect timing and interactions between and among characters/actors. Alan Arkin ~ I have loved him since Wait Until Dark.. he is so 'natural'. Amy Adams seems to get better with each picture she does. She was superb here, along with Ms. Blunt. The cinematography was quite in sync with the trials and tribulations of the characters, enhancing their depth. I have a feeling, however, that many 'guys' won't get it and won't enjoy it. Seems all they like is action, action, action... lots of car chases and blowing stuff up ~ which I like, too. This is a movie that makes you think, feel. You know, we could, any one of us, be in their shoes at any moment in time... some of us already are. This is a movie with true character and strength, but one which many people will just not 'get'. Too many people today just don't understand good story-telling and pure acting.

Sunshine Cleaning is great. It's funny, but also has a dark side. It's easy to like the two sisters, who are the main characters in the movie. Their vulnerabilities are out there for everyone to see and I immediately felt compassion for them. Wonderful movie about healing, love, and the importance of family.

Wow - what a great movie. From the first scenes, i was laughing. Now not many movies lately I've seen have started like this at all. Great story line, superb acting, and MOVING. It flowed very well, no real (lag) spots at all. I was brought to tears a couple times and that was okay. I'd highly recommend this movie and have to many of my friends and family already. It's a great film for young & old - filmed just right with elements of death, jokes, and real life situations. Best new movie of the year in my book - i'd totally see it again and am stoked for when it comes to dvd! Go see Sunshine Cleaning and you won't be disappointed.

A real sleeper. This film shows what is great about us all in spades. It thouroghly blows the old Black versas White portrayal of the characters. In the film everyone has their faults, and act accordingly. They aren't one dimensional however and change their outlook under the influence of each other. The precision in which this is presented and the endearing quality that the viewer eventually HAS to extend to them all is an experience for which to be grateful. Thank You Amy, Emily, Alan, Jason and Steve you all were great. And thank you Christine Jeffs your sensitive editing and cuts were a work of art. This movie was the most talked about in my circles for days/weeks. Cool music too.
