WE WENT AND SAW THE PREVIEW TONIGHT AND IT WAS GREAT. IN OUR GROUP THERE WERE 4 KIDS FROM 5 TO 16 , ALL OF THEM LIKED IT. I WISH THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE 3-D, BUT IT WAS STILL LOTS OF FUN. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO READ THE BOOK NOW, JUST TO SEE WHAT EVERYTHING THE MOVIE LEFT OUT. GO AND ENJOY IT WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS, JUST DON'T THROW THE POPCORN WHEN SOMETHING JUMPS OUT AT YOU!

I took 2 kids ages 7 and 5 and we all loved the movie. It's non-stop action and yet had a plot. A good movie for the whole family.

It's really amazing how quickly a story can go from lonely dejected professor in an earth sciences lab at a small university to the center of the earth! However, this story doesn't really give you time to think about how unrealistic and unlikely the sequence of events that leads to the main premise of this update of Jules Verne's classic are. You just kind of float along for the ride. That's probably the most redeeming quality of the film. You don't really have time to ask; "how in tarnation could they come up with that so quickly?? It does leave me curious how much they left n the editing room floor. Nevertheless, this is an enjoyable film to watch and the 3D enhances the experience - even the really kitschy 3D gimmicks. A Yo-Yo in your face? Puh-lease! The acting is good and it draws you into the story. If it were not for the obvious holes in the script and the mind's inability to not chime in with a "that's impossible" thought every 10 to 12 minutes, this would be a must go film.

I had the opportunity to watch a cpecial screening of this film. Parents please take your children to see this movie. The 3-D effects are great. I enjoyed it very much!!

MOVIES REVIEWER

5/16/2008 I just saw the press screening of this fun family fare. Both director Eric Brevig and star Brendan Fraser were there IN PERSON! They were accommodating and laid-back during the Q & A session. THANKS to both Eric and Brendan for keep making good fun-filled healthy kids/family-oriented movies! The movie was conceived from start till finish as a 3-D film - so, go see it in a theater that is presenting it in 3-D. The 3-D effects were MANY. The sets were LUSH and DETAILED. And CGIs were very realistic. This thrilling seat-gripping movie has a simple plot loosely based on Jules Verne's novel that supplied the basic backbone and skeletons to LOTS of action packed into 1.5 hour of healthy hearty family fun. Both kids and their parents (or uncles, aunts, etc.) should enjoy it. Go see it - let the movie take you on a roller-coaster FUN ride! Grade : B- (THANKS Brendan for autographing my novel - that was immensely KIND and GRACIOUS of you. Much appreciated.) :-)
