Born to Daryl Walker Conrad and Sarah Gail Phillips on 10 February 1968 in Gastonia, North Carolina, Darren was a natural when it came to musical and stage works. Competing in numerous talent shows as a drummer and piano player from early childhood through college. Darren graduated from Hunter Huss High School in 1986 and lived around the corner from the now famous Fred Durst. Darren's uncle is Wade Walker, who was an "All American" in College Football and later became the Athletic Director for the Oaklahoma Sooners during Barry Switzers days prior to becoming an NFL Coach. Though very good in Athletics, Darren became a fan of the stage and studied Theater and Drama in college. After the death of his father in 1989, Darren went after his other desire which was to become a protector of the public. Darren worked on the set of several movies filmed in Winston-Salem as Police Security. Darren met actor Dan Biggers in Covington,Georgia during the "In the Heat of the Night" years. Dan encouraged Darren to not give up on his dream of becoming an actor even though he has given his adult life in the Law Enforcement Profession. Darren has shown portraying Law Enforcement Characters in films comes second nature. With his tall, athletic frame and dark hair, Darren has a natural ability to bring a character to life. Darren has done numerous news interviews and stories about the daily operations of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in Charlotte, N.C.

"Phillips Center" Recreation Center in Gastonia, N.C. was named after him.4-time, "MADD" DWI Officer of the Year.Competitive Softball player in Gastonia, N.C. with 27 seasons under his belt.Good friend and retired Television/Film Actor, Dan Biggers, was the "Best Man" in February 2004 Wedding in Union County, North Carolina.20 years in the North Carolina Law Enforcement Profession. Has a current rank of Sergeant with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.Joined Screen Actors Guild in December 2010.In November 2011, started filming his first SAG Signatory Short Film that he wrote and produced, "Last Call of Duty". As Darren plays the Lead of Officer Daniel Howell, it also stars veteran television and film actor, Marco St. John as Chief Wade Walker.
