Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Elena is a graduate from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario with an Honours B.A. in Drama and Women's Studies. She is best known for her stint on Canadian Idol, where she placed sixth in Season 2 (2004). Two years later, Elena replaced Jon Dore as the show's Roving Reporter for Season 4. Elena joined Ben Mulroney and the Idol judges for their cross-country audition tour and hosted several segments throughout the season. She also appeared as an Idol correspondent for eTalk Daily. Since graduating from Queen's, Elena has become a successful film and stage actress and singer. Elena made her film debut in the cult phenomenon, Repo! The Genetic Opera. Elena also plays Catherine in Naoko Ogigami's, Toilet, which premiered in Tokyo in 2010.
Elena sings and plays piano and guitar.Was part of an Idol world franchise "first" when the Top 6 accompanied themselves on their own instruments, performing Gordon Lightfoot's "Canadian Railroad Trilogy". Elena played the piano.Is of Filipino and Chinese decent.Elena managed to star in a Dora-nominated role at the Elgin Theatre and subsequently tour Canada as Canadian Idol's Season 4 Roving Reporter all while continuing a full-time education at Queen's University in her 3rd year.Has one older brother, Jay Leonard Juatco, a successful guitarist and musician in Vancouver, British Columbia.Elena was 18 and had just finished her first year in biology at Queen's University when she auditioned on a whim for Canadian Idol. She was dubbed "the little dynamo from B.C. and placed 6th in the show's second season.
