As a teenager, David Schifter hosted a cable television show in New York City called "Spotlight on Teens", and later spent a successful 14 years as a TV news investigative reporter, reporting for stations in West Virginia, Virginia, California, New York and Cleveland. He also was a corespondent for CNN and CNBC. He earned numerous award s including three Emmy nominations and the coveted Emmy itself. In 1999, David took the ultimate career risk by walking away from everything familiar to begin a career as an actor and later, a casting director. In 2001 he founded Hollywood East Casting, a principals and extras casting company based in Wilmington,North Carolina, USA. While continuing to act in national film and television productions, David and a staff cast commercials, television and feature films. Notable clients include NBC, Warner Brothers, The History Channel, Discovery Channel, Woman's Entertainment, I Network (formerly PAX) and others. He also works as a Development Producer conceptualizing programming ideas for television and video series. Hollywood East Casting operates nationwide.
After 14-years working all over the country as a TV investigative reporter, David began earning a reputation as a film/TV actor and casting director in Wilmington, North Carolina, USA.Partnered with Jacquiline Davis, noted British bodyguard of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling and Dutchess of York Sarah Ferguson to produce and direct "Stay Safe," a personal safety video for woman in 2003.Schifter is acknowledged in Jacquiline Davis' 2003 best-selling book "The Circuit," about Davis' life as a kidnap victim recovery agent and member of the underground European security force known as the Circuit.The day top female bodyguard Jacquiline Davis was to arrive in Wilmington, NC USA to shoot "Stay Safe" with Schifter, Davis' flight from London was diverted to Boston as terrorists began attacking the United States on September 11, 2001.Credited with starting the television career of Dr. Robi Ludwig, a New York City based psychotherapist who he once hired as a specialty reporter for a NBC affiliate where Schifter was News Director. Dr. Ludwig is a regular guest on Larry King Live, Nancy Grace, NBC's Today Show,Dr. Phil, HLN Jane Velez Mitchel, ET and The Oprah Winfrey Show." Schifter and Ludwig remain good friends.
