Elijah Baker Hails from South East London. Elijah 1st starting acting as a hobby at the age of 14 and began going to Lewisham youth theater located at Catford Broadway, on Thursday evenings after school. There he acted in a few plays, 1 being "The Caucasian Chalk Circle". Where he played multiple roles. The Fat Prince, Lavrenti, The Old man and an Iron shirt. Acting remained a hobby for Elijah until a few years later, when members of The Old Vic theater came to Elijah's Secondary school to hold open auditions for a play they were setting up in partnership with The Imperial War Museum. It was a play called "On The Middle Day", written by Gavin Birch and Directed by Matt Wild. On The Middle Day told the story of a group of young men joining the British army in World War 1 and fighting in the Battle Of The Somme. Baker Recollects that he didn't know of The Old Vic or of its artistic director "Kevin Spacey" at the time, along with most of his peers in school. But he felt that it was still worth auditioning regardless and tried to encourage some of his friends to get involved. In the end out of the entire school of more than 400 boys, only Baker and 3 others auditioned. All 4 who auditioned were successful in being asked to take part. With the other 3 boys given extra roles as soldiers and Elijah given 1 of the main parts "Archibald Cotton". The director was so keen to have Baker play the role that he returned to the school a couple of days later to give Baker a script and tell him the role was his personally. Ironically on the day he returned to do this, Baker had taken the day of school. So the director got his home address and delivered the script to Baker's front door. Baker describes working with the Old Vic and all involved in the project,as 1 of the best experiences of his life and a true turning point that made him realize that he no longer wanted to act as a hobby, but now he wanted to pursue it as a career. So when the project had come to an end Baker returned to Lewisham youth theater now with a new sense of purpose and focus. He didn't stay for long though as he felt some of the teachers were treating him differently and that they were cold and bitter towards him. Refusing to let him rejoin the acting group and placing him with the technical lot. Although he knew he was being treated unfairly, he stayed for awhile longer out of love and fondness for the friends he had made there over the years, but eventually he knew he had to do the inevitable and move on. Leaving LYT (Lewisham youth theatre) he along with his mums aid, began looking for drama schools to join. He attended Sylvia young evening classes for awhile and it was at this school where he met the founder, "Sylvia Young" and she recommended him to her daughters agency. Who at 1st was skeptical about taking him on, as they felt he hadn't done much. Luckily they had seen the play he had been in "On the Middle Day" and after some persuasion from Sylvia, Alison and her colleagues decided to give him a chance and placed Baker on a 6 month trial. A few weeks after the trial had started, Baker landed his 1st role as a guest lead in an episode of "The Bill". Where he played troubled misjudged youth "Vinny Chapman". Following The Bill, Baker then landed small roles in other well known shows such as "Silent witness", "The Sarah Jane adventures" , "New Tricks", "Injustice" and "Phoneshop". Baker also starred in BBC3's Hard hitting "My Murder" movie as "Tiny Bouncer", based on the true story of the honey trap killing of shakilus Townsend. Baker has also appeared in "Deviation" where his character was taken out by a character played by Danny Dyer and then a year later, appeared in "Vendetta", where his character was taken out by Tony Denham, playing Dyers characters dad. Bakers can also be seen in "We Still Kill The Old Way" due for release on Boxing day. Baker is hard at work on his TV Pilot "Dim Squad", which he is writing, co-directing and staring in. Filming is set to take place late 2014. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Representing Elijah Baker
