Maurice Hurley was born on August 16, 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA as Maurice Edward Hurley. He was a producer and writer, known for Raumschiff Enterprise - Das nächste Jahrhundert (1987), Der Equalizer (1985) and Dangerous Connection (2001). He was married to Geraldine Garret and Adrienne St.John Geer. He died on February 24, 2015 in the USA.
Was the creator of the Borg on the TV series Raumschiff Enterprise - Das nächste Jahrhundert (1987) (The episode 'Q Who?'). The Borg were also featured in Star Trek: Der erste Kontakt (1996), and in the latter seasons of Star Trek: Raumschiff Voyager (1995). Wrote an alternative treatment to Ronald D. Moore and Brannon Braga 's screenplay for Star Trek: Treffen der Generationen (1994). Hurley's version had Captain Kirk featuring in the story primarily as a hologram. Was responsible for Gates McFadden leaving Raumschiff Enterprise - Das nächste Jahrhundert (1987) after the first season. McFadden returned for season three after Hurley left the show. He originally intended to create an invincible alien race of insects as the main adversary to the Federation. However, monetary constraints led to the compromise of the Borg as "a variation on the insect mentality". Co-creator of the character of Lore. His work on the screenplay for the TNG episode "Hide and Q" was re-written by Gene Roddenberry. As a consequence, Hurley used the pen name C.J. Holland in the credits.
