to your wish list?
Storyline:
14 year-old Ellis (Tye Sheridan) lives on a makeshift houseboat on the banks of a river in Arkansas with his parents, Mary Lee (Sarah Paulson) and Senior (Ray McKinnon). He sneaks out early one morning to meet his best friend, Neckbone (Jacob Lofland). Neckbone, also 14, lives with his uncle, Galen (Michael Shannon), who makes a hardscrabble living diving for oysters. The two boys set out to an island on the Mississippi River, where Neckbone has discovered an unusual sight-a boat, suspended high in the trees, a remnant of an extreme flood some time in the past. They climb the tree and into the boat only to find fresh bread and fresh footprints. Realizing that they are not the only ones who have discovered the treehouse boat, they decide to leave. All around fantastic view of a seldom seen slice of rural America expertly acted, directed, and filmed. Every actor's performance seemed as genuine as the surroundings.

Matthew McConaughey makes an Oscar Winning performance in Mud. The whole cast of Mud was believable as dwellers of a small Arkansas town. Break out performances from the young men playing Ellis and Neckbone. Looking forward to seeing these two young actors in many more films.

I found Mud to be a little too long and slow moving. The acting is
superb by both Matthew and the boys, but the story gets bogged
down in the reasoning as to why Mud is hiding on an island. You
understand he is the object of revenge from someone's family because
he killed a member of that family, but it never really explains any details
of the incident. Until the end, you really don't get the "life lessons" the
movie intended, but overall, it was a good character study.

I really didn't know what to expect when I went to see this movie but was very pleasantly surprised. All of the actors, especially the young boys were incredible. I hope to see them in more films in the future. Matthew and Reese were wonderful. They both fit the part precisely. The writing, directing and cinematography were first class. I would encourage everyone to see this movie. Its does have some language so not sure its for young kids. This was one of my favorite movies of the year.
