Storyline:
Rango is a pet chameleon always on the lookout for action and adventure, except the fake kind, where he directs it and acts in it. After a car accident, he winds up in an old western town called Dirt. What this town needs the most is water, but they also need a hero and a sheriff. The thirsty Rango instantly takes on the role of both and selfishly agrees to take on the case of their missing water.

Think back to your first cartoon - the one that set the whole ball rolling. Saturday mornings with The Flintstones or Popeye? Tuning in to Tom & Jerry or Rocky & Bullwinkle after school? Bambi, Bugs, Yogi, Mickey, Spongebob, Simba? Remember how effortless it was to embrace those cartoons, how natural it was for the characters, the very genre to become a part of who you were? Can anyone un-imagine Homer? Do we wonder *why* Whinnie the Pooh? "Rango" speaks to the essential childhood in each of us. It is not simply the character or the dialogue or the animation or the theme that distinguishes this movie as an instant animated classic for the ages - it is the mutual *embrace* with which we experience the film that stirs us. I felt it watching Avatar in IMAX, think of it with every "Frodo Lives!", know it with every Peanuts special, remember it with every classic clip I surf. Tonight, for father and son alike, "Rango" was the first cartoon of the rest of our lives.

Unfunny, not clever, not witty, not dramatic, not heartwarming, just a supremely talented cast of actors with a very bad script. As animated movies are one of my favorites, I was extremely disappointed. Neither silly enough for kids or intelligent enough for adults. Johnny Depp, Alfred Molina among my favorite actors can't save this stinker. The story is extremely stretched, a wanna be actor lizard, finds himself in the real desert in a town with a corrupt mayor who is hoarding all the water, becomes a pretend hero (through his acting) only to find himself promoted to a real sheriff to find out why there is no water. Found out to be a fraud, finds courage, saves town, THE END. Not even 1 smirk throughout. Save your money and buy a gallon of gas.

This movie funny!!! Do your kids a favor and leave them @ home. The language is unnacceptable for the kids and some scenes are just too much for the little ones. If you don't care about what your kids see or hear, then take them along and enjoy!

The kids and I just loved this one. Highly entertaining with witty humor. Johnny Depp really pulled the role! If you havent seen you can watch at [BLOCKED WEBSITE] .**

My 5-year-old son has been looking forward to the release of Rango for over a month. The previews make it look like a light-hearted western for kids. Well, it is anything BUT light-hearted and kid-friendly. It is DARK, CRASS, and HARD-TO-FOLLOW. The plot seemed to progress very slowly, then pick up over and over again. The rating should have been PG-13 due to language and violence. I was mortified at the language and phrases present in the film. The one good thing I can say is that the animation was incredible. However, that definitely does not make a movie worth watching. I would not recommend this movie to anyone with children.
