Storyline:
In London, the sideshow troupe of Doctor Parnassus promises the audience a journey to the "Imaginarium", an imaginary world commanded by the mind of Doctor Parnassus, where dreams come true. In the stories that Doctor Parnassus tells to his daughter Valentina, the midget Percy, and his assistant Anton, he claims to have lived for more than one thousand years; However, when he fell in love with a mortal woman, he made a deal with the devil (Mr. Nick), trading his immortality for youth. As part of the bargain, he promised his son or daughter to Mr. Nick on their sixteenth birthday. Valentina is now almost to the doomed age and Doctor Parnassus makes a new bet with Mr. Nick, whoever seduces five souls in the Imaginarium will have Valentina as a prize. Meanwhile the troupe rescues Tony, a young man that was hanged on a bridge by the Russians. Tony was chased until he finds and joins the group...

I enjoyed the movie. Original story. Amazing imagination. Great performances. Heath was becoming a greater actor...too bad he is no longer with us. His talent will be missed.

Amazing set design, costume. Excellent resolution to problematic death of one of the lead actor. Wonderful concept but last 1/4 of the movie feels unfinished.

Wonderful Gilliam-esque movie with lots of sublime and slapstick humor. Heath Ledger's performance is colourful and Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Collin Farell contribute with their brilliance as actors. Tom Waits however is the movie's highlight... stealing every scene he is in!
Go and see it... it is a MUST!!!

There is nothing quite like the Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. The story makes more imaginative sense than logical sense, and few are likely to grasp every element upon one viewing. All in all though, It's incredible, inspired, and a masterpiece. It was like a long dream or a hundred Aesopic fables woven together into a kind of super-fable that is bound to impress a profound message upon some viewers, whilst leaving others completely in the dark.

I took my 11 yr. old daughter because she is a big Heath and Johnny fan. I thought at the end of the movie she would have been totally confused by it. She was not, but she is not your ordinary 11 yr. old. She likes fantasy and anything different. She understood the deal with the devil and what happened when you chose with your pure self. I think that the other actors who finished Heath's part made it extra special. I think it flowed seamless from one Tony to the next Tony. The acting was great all the way around. Visually very cool. I don't think this movie is for everyone - not a mainstream movie. We loved it and my daughter wants to see it again.
