Being a horror movie buff, I rarely go see them. Because they make me angry. Because they show too much. Because the plot is thin. Because they're not scary. Case 39 had me tucked into a little ball in my chair, clutching my hands to my body, feeling my heart rate increase, and jumping out of my seat a few times. Save for one plot/character twist that was a little unbelievable (which I'm willing to accept, given the excellence of the rest of the movie), the whole movie was pulled off to perfection. THANK YOU FOR MAKING A SCARY MOVIE THAT SCARED ME!!!!! All three of us that went were a bit hysterical from all the adrenaline in our system by the time we left the movie. Hell yes. Even knowing what happens, I might go see it again. And I never do that... I didn't even see Avatar in theaters twice.

There is normally a good reason why a film studio would decide to "shelve" a completed movie after negative *** screenings. Especially, when what's broken, can't be fixed. This was one of those movies. Mis-cast actors, with little to no direction. Even the great Ian McShane was wasted in this movie. The trailers actually reveals everything, so when you watch the movie, there are no suprises to be revealed. Shot in 2006, Case 39 was released overseas in 2009, also to negative feedback. Whatever possessed Paramount to release the film in theaters in the US four years after they made it is beyond me. Paramount should have took it as a sign when the studio and sets burned down on Halloween 2006, that this movie was doomed. Don't waste your money. It's already on DVD overseas, and will be out of American theaters in 2-3 weeks for sure.

This movie is a great movie because it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. There was never a dull moment throughout the movie, and is definitely one that will be added to my own movie collection. In my opinion, this movie is not for the faint of heart!

Now I know that people rip on this movie because they feel like its just another Orphan or Omen, but that doesn't take away from the fact that its a good movie. I haven't seen a good horror movie in quite some time, but I'm glad I saw this. I mean Daybreakers was kind of a let down for me and don't get me started on the other crappy movies: Sorority Row, Jennifer's Body, Etc. Now if you could watch any of those movies then I am positive that anyone who knows a good horror movie will enjoy this. Also Renee Z does some great acting might I add.
