The best movie I have seen in a long time! I would see it again. Funny, sad, exciting. A wonderful movie! When I got home from seeing War Horse I immediately called my daughter and told her to take my 10 yr. old and 14 yr. old grandsons to see it. High recommend it!

I found War Horse a powerful tale of courage, love and the stupidity and brutality of war. It is not an easy film to watch at moments but the bond between the humans and this magnificent horse carry the film and lift our spirits. The acting was very good, the young lead got even stronger as the film progressed and I was never ever bored. Not a film for young children because of the war scenes. The cinematography was excellent and you needed the large screen to capture the countryside and scope.

At the end, I felt like I'd gone out a few times for popcorn...which I hadn't... and missed parts of the story. Huge gaps in a lackluster story line. Not for kids. It is a "Black Beauty" kind of thing that you'd be better served watching that.

About an hour and a half into the movie, I was begging for it to be done. It seemed that they took four different plots, attempted to knit them together and then add nice music behind the scenes. It was the first time that I wondered if Spielberg was truly happy with the end result. The ending was weird. I won't give it away but the use of colors, lighting and everything summed up a particularly confusing picture. I was only happy that I spent $5 on this movie for the early showing vs. the late night showing. However, it was not all bad. Many good parts of humor and sentiment prevented me from walking out on the movie altogether. Maybe it was for an older generation, since that is who seemed to be most sitting next to me. Judge for yourself.
