Once you get past the fact that Paul Newman isn't reprising Butch Cassidy here, there's an admirable performance from Sam Shepard here. The landscape cinematography is nice to look at though much of the humor that was in the original movie is absent here. Rather this is a movie where Butch is looking back at his past and grumpily philosophizing about it while trying to help Eduardo Noriega's character out.
