Storyline:
Logan is a marine serving in Iraq. While there, he finds a photo of a girl with "keep safe" written on the back. He is admiring it when his unit is attacked. He survives and credits the photo for saving him. He tries to find the owner but can't, assuming he was killed. When he goes back to the States, he finds it difficult to adjust and is still haunted by what happened. Analyzing the photo, he finds in the background a landmark that tells him she is in Louisiana. He then goes there and finds her. He learns her name is Beth. He tries to tell her what happened but can't get the words out. She assumes he's there to apply for the job they advertised looking for someone to help at her family's business, a dog kennel. He says yes but at first she gets an uneasy feeling from him but her grandmother decides to give him a chance. It isn't long that he makes a connection with her son. Shows beautiful, inspiring yet complicated characters with great substance. No fluff piece. Must see movie. Gives rise to the power of faith and infinate possibilities in what destiny has in store for those who believe.

I read the original book first and couldn't have imagined the characters or setting any better than what was portrayed in this movie. Zac Efron was wonderful! Very romantic! The type of guy every woman dreams of. He's strong, muscular, sexy, brave, and protective (in a good way). Definitely not for kids with the steamy sex scenes but for every one over 18....GO SEE IT! Guys probably won't like it because they won't be able to live up to the romance.

I am very disappointed in this movie. I read the book before the movie came out and was really excited to see the movie but the movie did not follow the book. there were only 2 scenes that I thought really followed the book the rest was not even close. If you are going to make a movie based on a book well then at least try to have the movie follow the book. I am not saying the movie was bad but I would much rather read the book a hundred more times than watch the movie more than one time.

I am a HUGE Zac Efron fan, so I will admit, that's why I went to see the movie..but I do LOVE Nicholas Sparks and "The Notebook" is my all time favorite movie. I was instantly drawn into this movie within the first 5 minutes. It's so up to date, with the war in Iraq, reminded me of "Dear John." It was a beautiful love story, with a beautiful setting. Blythe Danner is terrific as "Nana". I loved the chemistry between Zac and Taylor. I mean, Look at him! HE IS GORGEOUS!!!!!!! WHO COULD RESIST HIM AND THOSE BEAUTIFUL BLUE EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S A MUST GO FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!

Alon Patterson

Not all movies are blockbusters, and sometimes that's a good thing. Now and then slow and steady wins the race too and I think that's a fair analogy for this film. The pace here is easy and relaxed. This screenplay is steady, albeit by the numbers, and genuine. The cast performances are quite good and the setting environment of rural Louisiana brings just the right amount of tone, atmosphere and color. A modern love-lost, love-found tale, "The Lucky One" tugs at the heart strings more than just a bit. This is definitely a suitable date flick but it's more than that. If you're looking for something laid back, warm and entertaining, this is your ticket. It's good enough for the cost of an evening seat but even more worthy of a matinee ticket. In fact, afternoon would be a good time to catch this one. See it though. You won't be disappointed.
