This is not your fathers Red Dawn. This is a lighter (in the character development arena) treatment of the same topic. More explosions, more fighting, more action. Kept true to some parts and then veered off in others. On its own, it was a good movie and for those looking to be entertained, it does just that. If you're looking for a deep movie, keep looking. I would recommend it though and I saw lots of families in the theater who seemed to enjoy the movie as much as I did. OK for younger kids as well -- not too bloody and of course they had to use the 1-time "F" word for the PG-13 rating, not necessary, but I guess it's like a that second helping of pumpkin pie. You don't have to do it, you shouldn't do it, but you do it anyway because you can.

This movie is offensive rehash that does the original no justice. This film did not explore the survival aspect of living under occupation at all. It was all just a rehash of the silly tricks of the old movies. One trick after another, those pesky North Koreans, and when they screamed Wolverines, it made me cringe how cheesy and dispassionate the wooden actors were. I am sorry to say that Conner Cruise is not ready for prime time, he is as bad as Jayden Smith in that they both could be the worst up and coming actions stars to date. Keep coaching him dad, I am sure he will improve as much as you have over the last 20 years. Had to be one of the worst movies I have seen in a while, the director sucks he could not direct a cat in a paper bag.

Now let me say, this is not the original but it still was good. If you want to see a movie with lots of actions, and things getting blown up, then this is the move you want to check out. I enjoyed the flick, and i can't wait to see what is in store down the road. Instead of the Russians attacking us, we have the North Koreans who are trying to take over our country. A band of kids will do everything in their power to stop this from happening. Are you a leader or a follower?? Join the Wolverines on this journey and see where it leads them. Great movie for action junkies, and not for the faint of heart. Too much going on for children. Go check it out.

Compared to the original, this was a no-show. As a general movie, it is a waste of time. Poorly acted, paced and storyline with enough holes to drive a North Korean tank through. Save your money or go see Lincoln.

poor acting; zero character development; poor directing... while the original was ambitious...it benefited from having some young actors that delivered.... and the directing gave a broadness and depth to the fighting and what was at stake....this 'remash' does none of this.... save your money!!!!
