Storyline:
Dusty Crophopper is a little cropduster plane with a fear of heights and a crazy dream of being a racer. While his friends need convincing, Dusty gets the training he needs from Skipper, a veteran fighter, and qualifies for the Wings Across the World race. In the event, Dusty finds competitors who soon learn that there is something special about this underdog as he is tested to his physical and emotional limits. In doing so, Dusty soon finds enemies, and more importantly friends, who are inspired by his dream. In the face of all obstacles, the winner of this air race will be anyone's guess.

Saw it with my 5 y.o. grandson. Well done technically, visually, animation and acting (non-3D version). May try the 3D version for comparison. Very, very small children may not stay engaged. I love planes and am a private pilot. Couldn't wait to see it...will probably buy the DVD. Good theme and storyline. Highly recommend it!

I took my 3 year old daughter to see Planes, she couldn't quite understand why Lightning McQueen wasn't about. It kept her entertained but the storyline was a little lacking, but what do I expect after all it was a Disney film. Good characters but the usual bad guy, grumpy old sage who has a traumatic back story, comedy sidekick, beautiful girl, and enough highs and lows to make you air sick!!!
All in all not too bad, lots of adult side jokes to keep the grown ups entertained, lots of action and great graphics to keep the kids happy......although I am still not 100% sure about the giant American Airlines product placement mid film!

I thought I would fall a sleep watching this movie. They should have made it like war plane movie insted of making it a race movie. That had already been done in Cars 1 & 2.

It's pretty sad when Disney appropriates someone else's creative vision and uses it to churn out a clearly inferior product. The script and characters were completely derivative. I took my six-year old twins and they did not laugh out loud a single time. I nearly fell asleep. It is my understanding that this was supposed to be a direct-to-video production, but the Mouse thought maybe they could make a little extra money with a late-summer theatrical release. What they didn't take into account was the hit that both their, and Pixar's, reputation would take. Don't waste your money.

My son who is a plane aficionado wanted to go so he could name all the types of planes in it. He was disappointed as was I. This would have made a better cartoon show on the Disney Channel than a movie. While the message of the movie was good, as Disney movies usually are, the delivery was not very good. The emotional connection achieved in Cars was absent in Planes.
