The movie went beyond the normal cliches and really took a stab at the obsession with celebrity culture. Certainly a cautionary tale, but also left us with the question of where blame should be placed. Go see it!!

I enjoyed this film. Sofia Coppola really evoked emotions towards these kids that I felt were appropriate for the situation. You leave feeling like they were a bunch of dumb-asses who worshipped "stuff" which is really shallow but at the same time you know they had some guts to do what they did. I liked the flow of the film and the fact that it's true makes it even more interesting. There's a really great build up to the denouement. I was anxious as they flaunted through celebrities houses, constantly thinking of how awful it would be to get caught. The pervasive drug use might be seen as a negative for teens to witness but if they're mature they can see the film without thinking they need to go out and snort coke to be cool. Again, I like the film. Not amazing or a blockbuster, but still a pretty cool little flick. My favourite character was Chloe played by Claire Julien. Very believable little hippie who doesn't give an eff. Well done!

When this movie was over, I looked at my friends and said "really?". It just never seemed to gel into a narrative that left the watcher with a solid impression. The actors were good, for the most part , but the story was told in a linear fashion; first this happened, then this happened , and since most people already knew the outcome from the news, nothing was illuminated. The movie seemed stuck in the vapidity of the characters in it, so there are no insights to take away from it. Too bad, I was looking forward to it!

I knew the story behind this film as I live in California and remember the news story. I had expected excellent direction and acting in the film. What I hadn't expected what how uncomfortable I would feel and how anxious being taken on this journey with these characters. Even though you know they will be caught, it is their recklessness, their age and actions that are all too common with CA teens, their disengaged or too trusting parents, and their drug use and actions that made me anxious and tense throughout the entire movie. Films, like good literature, should elicit emotions, and this film does that well if you are willing to drop "yourself" at the door and go on this crazy journey.

Sorry, but I was not impressed with anything in this movie. The actors were okay, but not outstanding. It is hard for me to believe that this group was so cordial when they ransacked those celebrity homes...especially if they were under the influence of drugs and alcohol. I feel the movie was sugar coated..I would not recommend this movie to even a young crowd because frankly, they wouldn't believe that they didn't behave worse than what was shown on the screen. Nope...not recommendable-I am just glad I had a gift card, because I would not spend any money to see it had I known it was so bad. The only thing this movie did was make me curious to read the article in the magazine which prompted the making of the movie.
