An avid Shakespeare fan, I was delighted to see this after hearing Joss Whedon was making this film. Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed. It was a fairly straightforward adaptation and was fairly easy to get, with only minimal confusion for those unfamiliar with the play like my sister. I loved the scenery of film, though I wish it had been in color. Definitely would recommend this film!

Joss Whedon's take on 'Much Ado About Nothing' speaks heartily to the production's roots: the setting is Whedon's California home in the present day and the players are largely performers drawn from the Whedonverse circle. Whedon has his friends over to read Shakespeare for pleasure from time to time -- and the film does not stray very far from that visual language. It's not grandly cinematic; it's casual, relaxed, and personal. It honors the writing, the characters, and the mood that Shakespeare set out. It's a nice piece, with solid performances. I thought it was worth seeing in the theatre to make it easier to immerse yourself in the setting, which might actually be tricker at home where the film might be so casual that the everyday world _around- your screen might distract from the everyday world _on_ the screen. You may not have a choice soon enough -- there aren't many theaters left still showing the film.

This is an excellent rendition of Shakespeare's excellent play! I've been seeing plays by The Bard since I was a kid, and have always been a fan, but usually when the show starts I spend about 10 minutes adjusting my ear to the language. The quality of the diction of 80% of these actors is so high that I was there with them immediately. Overall the quirky nature of the film was fantastic, it was hilarious, it was moving, and the setting (Joss Whedon's beautiful home) really contributed to it. The acting was excellent. Most of these actors, as well as being a part of Joss's "rep company," have done Shakespeare before, and that helped. Whedon's score is excellent. Rally, I just can't say enough good things about it. See it, whether you love Shakespeare, or love Whedon, or none of the above, it is well worth a couple hours of your time!

Being a Shakespeare lover I knew I had to see this when I heard they were making it. I really enjoyed it! Shakespeare is always tricky in terms of language but I feel it is very accessible and easily understood, that being said the actors are excellent and it is very well directed. I loved the treatment and as I do each time I see this play the constables are my favorite characters and Joss Whedon's casting of Nathan Fillion is genius!
