Don Jon isn't a bad movie but at the same time there are too many flaws in it for me to call it good. Joseph Gordon Levitt turned in a great performance and Scarlett Johanssen pretty much nailed her part too. Julianne Moore also put her all into her role but the story itself is kind of disjointed the way it unfolds and the ultimate message of the movie gets watered down by the time the movie's over. Tony Danza is great as Jon's father and one of the best parts of this movie in my opinion. The only other issue that ironically hurt the movie was that it was too explicit/repetitive sometimes when it came to porn; the point that every guy watches it got beat to death an hour into the movie. The actual sex scenes weren't as explicit and added to the movie. So this movie has some funny and touching moments in it but I would advise just renting it on Red Box.

This movie was so enjoyable! Joseph Gordon Levitt is a double-threat, directing and starring in this contemporary tale of two lovers with different ideas about romance & sex. (And yes, there's a LOT of sex; mostly quick porn clips; nothing too offensive!) The actors in this film really do a great job of chewing up their scenes (I LOVED Tony Danza & Glenne Headley as Don Jon's bluie-collar, New Jersey Italian parents. The scenes at their dinner table were laugh aloud hilarious!) ScarJo does a great "Brooklyn gum-snappa" accent, complete with tight clothes & hoop earrings. This is definitely a second date movie and will be funny to both guys & girls. Jon's scenes with his buddies seemed really true and authentic.

A small minded person might deem this film as being stereotypical, repetitive and shallow, but those of us with a deeper understanding of life will see a very creative and meaningful film. The unexpected developments make this movie outstanding and while you will be laughing throughout, the ending is ironic, poignant and will leave you with a warm heart. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's debut as a director and actor is a fine one!

"Don Jon" is film with an interesting premise, but it's reliance on porn clips makes the viewer nearly as inured to pornography as the protagonist. What is being touted as a cutting edge take on love and sex is really just another predictable rom-com.

Well this movie was different from what I expected. It was awkwardly funny. I think it did give an accurate representation of the male vs. female view on porn. Scarlett Johansson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt do a great job portraying a stereotypical Jersey Shore couple. However, the relationship between Julianne Moore and Levitt is somewhat unbelievable. The chemistry just is not there.
