Storyline:
Fearless optimist Anna teams up with rugged mountain man Kristoff and his loyal reindeer Sven and sets off on an epic journey to find her sister Elsa, whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom. From the outside Elsa looks poised, regal and reserved, but in reality she lives in fear as she wrestles with a mighty secret: she was born with the power to create ice and snow. It's a beautiful ability, but also extremely dangerous. Haunted by the moment her magic nearly killed her younger sister Anna, Elsa has isolated herself, spending every waking minute trying to suppress her growing powers. Her mounting emotions trigger the magic, accidentally setting off an eternal winter that she can't stop. She fears she's becoming a monster and that no one, not even her sister, can help her.

I found this movie visually beautiful but rather boring. Unlike the Disney classics of the 80's & 90's (better yet, 30's-60's), the plot trudged along and the comedy relief was too little, too late. I credit Disney for attempting a more modern interpretation of women and relationships. Overall, not many good choices for the youngins, so take them, but otherwise, eh.

My daughter (adult) and I took her teen-age son who had misgivings about seeing a Disney feature. It was wondrous!. The music, original and beautifully rendered was given the same careful attention that the "magic" ice was. In our little theater, there was a mixed audience. Children were quiet, adults were involved--and at the end there was APPLAUSE!
When have you heard that! Don't miss this! In spite of the fact that the parents die--remember this is an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen" and not a Disney invention-this is a magical treat.

Such a disappointment with all the opportunities to use 3D; snow/ice/monster/etc the previews to turn off cell phones used better 3D than this Walt Disney. Children were asking in the theater "when will this be over? and can we leave now?" so know the children you take with you. I personally found it very sad especially for one of the main characters, usually Walt Disney will have tragedy but usually triumph in the end. Too bad Walt Disney used the film as propaganda for more princess characters to sell and not as an example of the expected Disney standards, gorgeous artwork could have been used so much more creatively. Waste of 3D should have waited till it was in the $5.99 bin at best buys etc. Hope others have better experiences with Frozen.
