Storyline:
"NEBRASKA" is a father and son road trip, from Billings, Montana to Lincoln, Nebraska that gets waylaid at a small town in central Nebraska, where the father grew up and has scores to settle. Told with deadpan humor and a unique visual style, it's ultimately the story of a son trying to get through to a father he doesn't understand.

As the boomers become senior citizens, the movie becomes significant to them and to the children of the boomers. The movie shows that long dialogues are not necessary to demonstrate strong family bonds. The movie will probably not be chosen by the fantasy or fast action junkies.

Wonderful story of a son and his ailing dad's last wishes. It's a road trip that unfolds with family stories being told at surprising moments . Terrific cast . Poignant with humor and some drama. Cinematography stunning in black and white and sepia tones. It's a slice of America hidden deep in Montana and Nebraska. I love that the movie has no glamorous actors nor actresses. No designer duds or perfect hair or perfect makeup as much as I enjoy those parts of life. But every now and then we need to see this part of America.

I loved this movie. Charming, sweet, thoughtful, and FUNNY. An quiet elderly man thinks that he has won a million dollars. His son takes him on a road trip to pacify him. The acting was soo good, especially June Squibb as the loud, bitchy wife. If you liked "The Descendants" directed by Alexander Payne you will like this as well. Good for teens and older. Great way to spend a couple hours.

It is so rare to see an independent movie about such a simple story, that is so pitch perfect in all the nuances of a family's life, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and highly recommend the movie to anyone who has a loved one suffering from Alzheimers, this movie got it right, the walking movements, dialogue, even the stare out into space from Bruce Dern reminded me of my grandfather, it made me smile remembering all the good times I had with my grandfather. This movie deals with the disease in such a graceful, respectful and sincere manner that it is easy to watch. The movie is full of humorous moments, and a few shocking ones, if you know Alexander Paynes work, there are always a few surprises along the way, the ending was very satisfying and I hope this little movie gets as many awards as it has been nominated for, absolutely perfect

"Nebraska" isn't your standard "flashy holiday movie fare." It takes its time, and that's fine. Shot in gorgeous widescreen black and white and featuring the best acting ensemble this year (Dern and Squibb deserve Oscars, and Forte and Odenkirk are revelatory), it's funny, wistful and true, and it sticks with you long after the credits roll.
