The biggest fault I can find with this is I found the camerawork a little distracting at times; they played it like an art-house film and I personally think that was a mistake. In spite of this technical issue, I did enjoy the movie quite a bit. Some say it's a cut-rate Heroes or X-Men. I say that's because they can't handle originality. And Push has quite a bit of that. It's a nice fresh look at psychic abilities; the only better in recent years was Minority Report. If you're into superhuman abilities in general and psychic in specific, you'll probably like this movie quite a bit. The effects are okay -- mostly nothing we haven't seen before, but can't complain, either. A few of the things they did were inspired. I'd recommend it, but only to people who are used to thinking. Anyone who MUST be spoon-fed their entertainment should just go see Paul Blart or Pink Panther. You'll probably prefer those.

MOVIES REVIEWER

I just attended the advance press preview of this BUMBLING UNIMPRESSIVE 2hr movie rip-off of HEROES and other established sci-fi novels/comics. Don't get me wrong - I'm totally into sci-fi and fantasy - but, this movie is a tedious exercise that lacks originality - and lacking substance. A regular weekly episode of HEROES is many times better than PUSH. And watching re-runs of the X-MEN is more entertaining. For those that are familiar with the DC and MARVEL comics universes - you've been exposed to such 'gifted' characters. There is nothing new in this movie that hasn't already been done prior. PUSH's plot has more holes than a block of cheddar and stinks worse. The special effects are second-rate and at best - unimpressive. The cardboard-thin characters lacked depth. Oh - and the ending sets up for a PUSH Pt. 2. So, you now know that there is no closure for this movie. VERDICT: GO - if you really must. A DVD rental at best. Yes, it really is that bad. All HYPE.

I hadn't really heard about this movie until it caught my eye on Fandango. Extremely well done - lots of action and, suspense. Keeps you guessing all the way to the end. I'm really surprised there isn't more interest in this one.

The story line behind the movie ties in with the suspected conspiracy of international governments trying to use special people as weapons, was quite interesting. No needless action occured. The movie was plot driven with plenty of twists and turns which made the movie unpredictable. My wife and I saw this film and we left discussing details, and thinking that there should be a sequel because the captive was not set free in this episode of the drama. Exciting, interesting, humorous at times, and intense.

Overall, I enjoyed Push. I actually liked that there wasn't constant fights, explosions, etc and one thing I really liked was that when people fought hand-to-hand, it was realistic. These people weren't trained to fight and they grapple and use anything they can get their hands on to defend themselves. Also, it showed the good and bad side to having these "talents"... it is good if YOU have them, bad if your opponent has them and is using them against you. What I didn't like was that this movie lasted almost two hours! With a little editing, they could have cut it down to 1-1/2 hours without losing anything from the story. The ending also bugged a bit because there wasn't a lot of closure and it felt like they left it wide open for a sequel. You won't lose out on the experience at all if you wait for the DVD release.
